Abstract Records a été fondé en 1981 par Edward Christie, un ex-promoteur de CBS et GTO Records. Il est également celui qui a fait signer UK Subs, The VIPS et bien d'autres chez Gem Records. Abstract était avec No Future, Secret, Riot City, Jungle, Cherry Red etc.... l'un des grands labels indépendants qui ont hébergé la scène punk des early 80s mais également des formations plus new wave...
