Le second album de The Fall enregistré début août sort sur Step Forward Records en décembre 1979, ce sera le dernier sur Step Forward, le groupe passe chez Rough Trade. Le line-up: Mark E. Smith (vocals, electric piano, kazoo, tape), Marc Riley (guitar), Craig Scanlon (guitar, electric piano, kazoo, tape), Steve Hanley (bass) & Mike Leigh (drums). En dépit d'un son volontairement approximatif, qui semble sonner le glas d'une époque, "Dragnet" est un des albums les plus hypnotiques de The Fall...Un monstrueux album amalgamant Rock 'n' Roll, garage 60s à la Seeds & punk rock...Un Hillbilly psychotique des docks de Manchester... Post punk gem...
